6 hours to midnight-2008

In my last blog I wrote about the power of a goal and the worthiness of reflection. It’s now less than 6 hours away from 2008 and curious if you mustered up the courage to write a goal, check in with a life coach or review the past year?
Last night I wrote in my journal and discovered the more I wrote the deeper I went into my thoughts and associated conflicts. I understood that 2007 was about communicating on a broader level (i.e. blogging, sending out my newsletter etc.) but realized that I hadn’t improved my communication within my own family unit. I learned that 2008 will mean digging even deeper into my personal development and noticing when I get trapped into old habits and unhealthy patterns. The positive trade-off for this type of work; balance, clarity and more fulfilling relationships with those who are dear to me.
I hope some of you can relate to this. It all started with journaling and a trust that what comes out on a page is evidence of what needs some thought, action and growth. Journaling is a great tool for us to try. The next step is writing down a statement of intention for 2008 about what was discovered while journaling. This statement will be a start of a goal. Something that is specific, has a time frame and has meaning and impact for your life.
I often use the “SMART” acronym when coaching my clients about writing goals. S-Specific, M-Measurable or meaningful, A-Achievable, R-Realistic, T-Timely. So, before the clock strikes midnight and you join the festivities of the night, set aside a moment to write down a goal that will push you a little further along this road, inspire you to become a better human being and bring success for 2008 !
Best Wishes for 2008
